Xin Li is a self-taught photographer born and raised on the west coast of Norway. She moved to Hong Kong in 2018 where she currently works as a freelance fashion / portrait photographer as well as the in-house photographer at Eaton Workshop and Club Kowloon. Xin mostly shoots on 35mm film. Her photographs are simultaneously natural and fantastical. She captures her subjects in a moment of truth without obeying conventional notions of beauty. While the faces in her photos are honest and pure, the compositions are painted with colour, texture and light. Outside of portraiture, Xin has developed a style of staged photography that explores her own sense of self through inanimate objects. The result is a kind of visual poetry.
